Convocation 2023

Sherrill Center – Friday August 18, 10 a.m.

Convocation is the ceremonial opening of the academic year and the official welcome of the University’s newest students. Begun at UNC Asheville in 1985, Convocation is rooted in centuries-old academic tradition. New students gather together and process as a class to the Ceremony. They are led by the University Macebearer, the Chancellor, and Provost. It is at Convocation that the newest class officially enters the University and joins the long lineage of outstanding students for whom the University of North Carolina at Asheville is their Alma Mater.
